Hong Kong Youth Exchange

The Western Australian Minister for Youth, Hon Peter Tinley MLA, the Department of Communities and the Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia (YACWA) are offering twelve young Western Australians aged between 18 and 25 years the opportunity to participate in an exchange program between Hong Kong and Western Australia in October 2017 and February 2018.

The exchange program is an initiative of the Western Australian State Government and the Home Affairs Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. The aims of the program are to provide delegates with the opportunity to develop:

  • self-confidence
  • international friendships and networks
  • a real understanding of a different culture
  • a base for future education and career goals

Costs associated with air travel to Hong Kong, together with accommodation and meal costs on ground, will be met by the Western Australian Government. All other spending and out-of- pocket expenses are the responsibility of the participant.

  • I agree that in submitting my application I agree (if selected to attend);
    • to be available to meet with young people visiting from Hong Kong between Monday 23rd October and Monday 30th October 2017
    • to be available to travel to Hong Kong between Monday 5 February and Monday 12 February, 2018.
    • to participate in a pre-exchange program briefing with representatives from the office of Minister Peter Tinley, Department of Communities, and the Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia
    • to undertake a National Police Clearance
    • to cover your own costs relating to obtaining a passport, national police clearance and optional extras such as travel insurance
    • to adhere to any rules/obligations established by YACWA or their insurer before & during the exchange program
    • to participate in a post-conference event to share your experiences with other Western Australians
    • to participate in the itinerary (whole or part) to meet and network with Hong Kong delegates visiting Western Australia in October (Mon 23 to 30th October 2017 inclusive)
    • to contribute and work with other delegates to complete required presentations
    • to complete an evaluation report and your own written report about the exchange program and insights with a focus on social innovation and youth participation.
