FairGround 2025 is YACWA’s flagship conference, offering an opportunity to reflect on the ever-changing youth sector in Western Australia. As the needs of young people and the sector continue to shift, new challenges arise. These changes demand innovation, resilience and collaboration. FairGround 2025 – Connecting for Change – will provide a dedicated space for the sector to come together, exchange ideas, and gain fresh perspectives.
We’re looking for ideas to be presented at FairGround which provide insight and showcase successful examples of initiatives within the youth sector. We want to hear from individuals and organisations with solutions to challenges, and strategies for creating positive change in the lives of young people.
Presentation Streams
Connecting – Fostering collaboration and networking. For example, connecting the lived experience of young people with the sector and creating spaces for meaningful conversation and shared solutions.
Purpose – Creating tangible change in a specific area. For example, addressing issues including but not limited to youth justice, mental health, housing and homelessness, burnout, and youth engagement.
Belonging – Creating spaces where everyone is welcome. For example, place-based initiatives that are inclusion focused.
We’re also looking for presentation submissions for ‘Beyond the Table: A Breakfast Session on Youth Sexual Health & Violence Prevention’ that address youth sexual health and/or family and intimate partner violence primary prevention, are suitable for youth workers, are evidence-based and grounded in theory, include practical skills and/or educational activities, aim to foster collaboration and networking, and showcases diverse perspectives.
The professional development session will be held on the 13th of June from 7:30am alongside a serving of breakfast. It will include a culmination of sexual health and violence prevention training from multiple agencies for the youth sector. The session will demonstrate best-practice in the sexual health and violence prevention education by providing evidence-based knowledge as well as practical skills and activities youth workers can use with young people. Each agency will present for 10-20 minutes.
