Maxine Drake is an experienced education and health specialist advocate, using her background in human rights to support people in navigating WA’s service systems. With all the challenges young people are facing it is no longer enough to stand by young people, we need to stand up. Maxine gives insight into how frontline youth and community workers can advocate for young people navigating the service system. This session will give you practical skills and tools to advocate for young people that you work with. Perfect for those beginning their careers in youth work, those without an advocacy role but who work alongside young people, and seasoned individual advocates who want a refresher.
The Youth Sector CoP sessions are a re-imaging of the ANY meetings, but with a focus on sharing knowledge and building our practice across the sector. They provide a platform for youth workers to come together, network, meet others in the sector, share information, learn from one another, and contribute to YACWA and others’ policy work.
Youth Sector CoP sessions are $40 for non-members, and free for YACWA members. Places are strictly limited to 20 in person and 30 online.
