How to be a peer researcher
Target audience

    Young people aged 12 to 25 who want to develop their skills to talk to other young people and gather their opinions and ideas. This training is ideal for organisations who want to upskill their youth advisory group to do peer research.
Overview This workshop is designed to help young people develop the knowledgeable, skills and confidence to deliver safe and effective consultation with other young people. In this workshop, young people will learn:

  • What peer researcher is and why we do it
  • How to choose what engagement method(s) to utilise
  • Where to find young people
  • Engaging with a diversity of young people
  • How to conduct safe and effective consultation, including boundaries, informed consent, confidentiality, managing disclosures and difficult conversations
  • This workshop is highly interactive and includes group discussions, working through scenarios and ‘can’ include the group developing their own consultation tools at the workshop. This workshop is co-delivered by a young person with experience in youth engagement.
