About the WAYA

The WA Youth Awards were established in 1999 to recognise young Western Australians aged 12 to 25 years for their achievements and contributions to the community.

The WA Youth Awards acknowledges the outstanding work of young people age 12-25 alongside the organisations and youth workers who support our state’s young people.

The Awards also reward outstanding youth groups and organisations that serve and support the state’s young people.

Young journalists, photographers, bloggers and contributors are invited to nominate for the Charmaine Dragun Memorial Award, which recognises an outstanding journalist, photographer or media contributor under the age of 25 who has committed to fair and balanced reporting on young people or youth issues.

The WA Youth Awards are proudly presented by the Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia, in partnership with the Department of Communities. The Awards are supported by Lotterywest.

The WA Youth Awards have been rescheduled to later in 2022.
