Today’s society is failing to deliver on its promise to young people; you need experience to get a job, but can’t get a job without experience. Meanwhile, constant negative media demonises and demoralises the unemployed, and societal institutions designed to support our young people are not meeting current demands.
Youth unemployment has been astronomical since the onset of the GFC and the rate in Western Australia continues to be one of the highest in the country. Nationally the rate of youth unemployment is almost double the overall unemployment rate. Our education, financial and industrial industries are struggling to keep up.
We know we can do better, and the time to act is now.
